COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State freshman guard Kianna Holland suffered a knee injury during preseason practice and will undergo surgery, forcing her to miss the 2014-15 season.

“Obviously, really disappointed for Kianna,” said head coach Kevin McGuff. “She’s worked really hard since she transferred here and was ready to impact our team when she became eligible. We’re in the process of scheduling surgery and we’re going to support her any way we can to make sure she gets back to 100 percent.”

Holland transferred to Ohio State from Duke last winter. She would have been eligible to play this season for the Buckeyes at the end of the first semester. Holland is an explosive guard who averaged better than 35 points per game as a senior at Seneca High School in Seneca, S.C. She was a Parade Magazine finalist for the National High School Player of the Year and a two-time All-Mountain Lakes Player of the Year in 2010 and 2012.
