COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sophomore guard Kelsey Mitchell has been named to the Associated Press’ 2014-15 Preseason All-America Team, voted on from a national media panel.

Mitchell, the USBWA and ESPNW National Freshman of the Year last year, is just the third Buckeye to be named to the AP preseason team. She joins Jessica Davenport who garnered the honor before the 2005-06 season and Jantel Lavender who earned the award prior to both the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.

The Cincinnati, Ohio native was also named to five other preseason All-America team in addition to being named the Big Ten preseason Player of the Year. Mitchell averaged 24.9 points per game last season which led the NCAA and scored a total of 873 points which was a Big Ten and OSU single-season record. She also made an NCAA single-season record 127 three-pointers last season.

The Buckeyes, who are ranked No. 6 in the preseason Associated Press poll and No. 10 in the USA Today/Coaches poll, tip off the season at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13 at No. 2 South Carolina. The home opener is at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16 against top-ranked UConn.
