COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team has added Kaitlyn Hofland to its recruiting class for the 2015 season, head coach Carey Fagan announced Tuesday. The Brampton, Ontario, native was a Canadian national team member in 2012 and 2013.

“We are so excited to add Kaitlyn to the team for the 2014-15 season,” Fagan said. “She brings great international elite experience to the team and her lines and form are impeccable. She has very high scoring potential on every event and will complete our incoming class of six talented freshman set to arrive this fall. After meeting Kaitlyn this winter, I knew right away that she would be a great for our team. She has a maturity and an understanding about herself as a gymnast that will allow her to compete at the highest level in NCAA gymnastics.”

Hofland has competed in four Canadian championships and is an international medalist on all four events and in the all-around. She, along with fellow Ohio State signee Stefanie Merkle, was a part of Canada’s second-place team at the 2012 Elite Massilia while also placing eighth in the all-around at the 2012 Glasgow World Cup in 2012. Hofland was a World Cup silver medalist on bars and also was the Canadian and Pan-American bar champion in addition to representing Canada at the World Championships in 2013.

Hofland joins Megan Feltham, Heather Hannon, Taylor Harrison, Alexis Mattern and Merkle as members of the Buckeyes’ recruiting class to begin competition in January.
