2012 Olerud Watch List Release

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State 1B/RHP Josh Dezse has been named to the watch list for the 2012 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award, the College Baseball Hall of Fame announced Tuesday. Dezse joins Reid Roper of Illinois as Big Ten players on the watch list.

An NCBWA third team preseason All-American and a third team preseason All-American by, Dezse also was named to the watch list for the Golden Spikes Award, given to the top amateur baseball player in the country.

The Powell, Ohio, native his hitting a team-high .330 with seven doubles, five home runs, 29 RBI and 28 runs scored. On the mound, Dezse is 1-2 with a 3.57 ERA and six saves in 22.2 innings pitched. He has struck out 17 and opponents are hitting just .185 off the right-hander.

The Buckeyes conclude their brief two-game set at No. 25 Oklahoma State at 7:35 p.m. ET tonight before returning home for a three-game series against Seattle over the weekend.
