Jan. 10, 2017

Columbus, Ohio– Jincy Dunne has been named the WCHA Rookie of the Week after her outstanding weekend series against Penn State.

In two games against the Nittany Lions, Dunne tallied two goals and an assist and was +6 on the ice, tops among all freshmen in the country last weekend. The O’Fallon, Missouri native scored the first goal of the weekend and the last, bookending a fantastic series for Ohio State.  She was a major factor on a defense that posted two straight shutouts: 5-0 on Friday and 6-0 on Saturday. Her multi-point game on Saturday was the second of the season

Dunne has made a big impact in her first season playing for the Buckeyes; she’s scored four goals and dished out eight assists for 12 points, fourth among all freshmen defensemen in the NCAA. Her 48 blocked shots put her in the Top 10 nationally among all skaters, and most among all freshmen.
