COLUMBUS, Ohio – The pool play portion of the 2020 Premier Lacrosse League season is over for five former Buckeyes and the postseason is set to begin on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
All five #ProBuckeyes will be in action on Tuesday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET when No. 7-seeded Chaos (Kevin Buchanan) tangles with second-seeded Chrome (Jesse King). At 8 p.m., Jake Withers and the expansion Waterdogs, who earned the No. 5 seed, face the fourth-seeded Redwoods. The tripleheader concludes with third-seeded Archers (Dominique Alexander, Tyler Pfister) vs. No. 6-seeded Atlas.
Waterdogs Pick Up First-ever Win
PLL history was made on Saturday when the Waterdogs earned their first-ever win, a 10-9 thriller in overtime against Chaos. In the game, Withers won eight of 11 face-offs, picked up two ground balls and also had an assist. For the season, which included four games in pool play, Withers has won 27 of 46 at the X (.586) with 10 ground balls, an assist and three caused turnovers.
Alexander, Pfister Help Archers Finish 3-1
On Sunday, the last two undefeated teams – the Archers and Whipsnakes – met in the final game of pool play with the winner securing the No. 1 seeds in the playoffs. Alexander appeared in all four games at short stick defensive midfield with one caused turnovers and two ground balls. Pfister also played in all four games.
King Has First Multi-Goal Outing
The leading scorer in pool play among the #ProBuckeyes was Jesse King for Chrome, who scored five times and added an assist in four outings last week. In a 13-12 win over the Waterdogs last Friday, he scored twice and also had an assist.
On the other side of the field from King in Tuesday’s playoff opener will be Buchanan, who took a total of five shots in four games during pool play and attempted one two-point goal.
