COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2019-20 Oracle ITA Preseason National Rankings Tuesday. Three singles standouts, along with two doubles teams, from the Ohio State women’s tennis program are on the list.
First for the Buckeyes, Isabella Boulais was individually ranked No. 36. The Ohio State Scholar-Athlete was the 2019 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and unanimously chosen First Team All-Big Ten last year. An NCAA singles qualifier, Boulais also was the 2019 ITA Midwest Regional Rookie of the Year and ended her freshman season ranked No. 63 in singles. She was 16-14 overall as a freshman for the Buckeyes.
Sophomore Kolie Allen was No. 61 by the ITA in the preseason rankings. Allen, also an Ohio State Scholar-Athlete, ended her freshman season last year ranked No. 69 individually. She finished 21-7 on the season overall.
Shiori Fukuda was ranked No. 79 individually. The redshirt junior was the 2018 ITA Midwest Region Rookie of the Year and 2018 Big Ten Freshman of the Year. Fukuda was also unanimously chosen First Team All-B1G in 2018 and ’19. She was 24-12 overall last year.
In the ITA preseason doubles rankings, Allen and Fukuda are No. 49. The duo went 2-2 last year as a tandem. The duo of redshirt senior Danielle Wolf and Boulais is No. 60. Last year, Wolf and Boulais were 10-2 overall as a duo.
The Buckeyes start their fall schedule this weekend, heading to North Carolina for the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic.
