COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s tennis freshman Isabelle Boulais has been selected the ITA Midwest Region Rookie of the Year, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Saturday. The native of Mississauga, Ontario, was the Big Ten co-Freshman of the Year and a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten honoree.
An Ohio State Scholar-Athlete, she is an at-large selection to the NCAA Singles Championship, with play beginning Monday in Orlando.
Boulais is the fourth Buckeye to be named ITA Midwest Rookie of the Year, all in the last six years. She joins Shiori Fukuda (2018), Francesca Di Lorenzo (2016) and Gabriella DeSantis (2014).
Boulais is ranked No. 56 in the most recent ITA singles rankings. She was 15-8 in dual matches this spring, with a 9-6 record on court one (playing court one in eight of the last nine matches). Overall, she is 16-13 in 2018-19.
In doubles, Boulais is ranked by the ITA with two partners, currently No. 40 with Fukuda (the duo reached as high as No. 19 this spring) and No. 89 with Danielle Wolf. Boulais was 15-7 in doubles dual matches, with a 7-6 mark on court one. She was 18-10 overall this year in doubles.
