Sotiris Siapanis, a freshman for the 2021 Ohio State men’s volleyball team, spent the last few week throwing up huge offensive numbers while competing for his home country of Cyprus in a CEV EuroVolley qualification tournament.
Siapanis ranked top-10 in three offensive categories (kills, attacking percentage and offensive efficiency) during the four-team event. His 73 total kills paced Cyprus and were slotted fourth overall for the event. Siapanis garnered 10 or more kills in three straight matches to end the tournament and in four of six contests for the week. He showed up big in an upset victory over Spain, bouncing 13 kills at a .346 attacking rate. Siapanis also racked up 14 kills in Cyprus’ second win, a five-setter versus Moldova.
