Buckeyes Headed to the Big Dance

The Ohio State men’s basketball team has earned the No. 5 seed in the West Region of the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament and will face No. 12 seed South Dakota State out of the Summit League Thursday at Taco Bell Arena in Boise, Idaho. The meeting, which will be the first between the two programs, will tip-off at 4 p.m. ET Thursday on TNT.

Women’s Hoops Opens NCAA Tournament at Home

The Ohio State women’s basketball team will be making its fourth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and this year, its tournament run will begin at home. The Buckeyes have earned a No. 3 seed and will play host to George Washington in the opening round on Saturday at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Buckeyes Top TTUN in OT to advance to B1G Hockey Finals

Matthew Weis’ overtime goal lifted the No. 6 ranked Ohio State men’s hockey team to a 3-2 win over No. 11 Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals Saturday in Nationwide Arena. The Buckeyes, the tournament’s No. 2 seed, will face No. 1 Notre Dame at 8 p.m. Saturday in South Bend, Ind., for the tournament title.

Women’s Hockey Advances to Frozen Four

Goaltender Kassidy Sauvé notched 38 saves as the Ohio State University women’s ice hockey team shutout the Boston College Eagles, 2-0, on Saturday to advance to the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four for the first time in program history. The Buckeyes move on to face No. 1 seeded Clarkson Friday at 5:00 p.m. in Minneapolis in the opening game of the Frozen Four in Minneapolis.

Men’s Gymnastics Topples No. 2 Stanford

The fourth-ranked Ohio State men’s gymnastics team took down No. 2 Stanford on Saturday night at Maples Pavilion by a score of 402.150-400.850. The Buckeyes scooped up individual titles on six of the seven individual events contested.

Seven Buckeye Divers Headed to NCAA Meet

The high flying Buckeye platform divers brought their A game on Saturday at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion to close out the NCAA Zone C diving meet. Ohio State advanced seven divers to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on the platform. The men’s squad will be sending five divers; Stephen Romanik, Christo Law, Aaron Daniels-Freeman, Clay White, and Jacob Siler. The women’s team will be sending Lara Tarvit and Genevieve Angerame.

Buckeyes Earn All-American Honors at Indoor Championships

Junior Sade Olatoye picked up her second-career indoor First Team All-America honor on Saturday night at the NCAA Track and Field Championships at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium. She is joined on the All-American First Team by the Men’s 4x400m relay team of Asa Burke, Nick Gray, Drelan Bramwell and Andre Jeff, as well as Zack Bazile who earned First Team honors in the long jump. Nick Demaline (shot put), Cole Gorksi (pole vault), Maggie Barrie (400m dash), and Nick Gray (200m dash) all earned Second Team honors.

Four Buckeyes Marksmen Earn All-American Honors

Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association announced their All-American selections for overall top combined aggregate averages. The Buckeyes had one selection in this category with sophomore Jacob Buchanan. Buchanan received this award in the honorable mention category.In air rifle, the Buckeyes had three athletes receive honors. Rhiann Travis received 2nd Team All-American honors, while Drew Cheezum and Jacob Buchanan both received Honorable Mention awards. In smallbore, the Buckeyes had two honorees. Jacob Buchanan received 2nd Team All-American Honors, while freshman Elizabeth Dutton received Honorable Mention.

Three Fencers Earn Automatic NCAA Championship Bids

At the NCAA Midwest Regional, Ohio State fencers competed for a final chance to earn national championship bids. Maximilien Chastanet, Domenik Koch, and Lewis Weiss all earned automatic qualification for the championships after finishing first in their weapon categories.
