COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the fourth time in five weeks, a Buckeye received a weekly Big Ten baseball honor as outfielder Zach Hurley earned his second career Player of the Week honor, the conference office announced Monday.
It is the second such award in three weeks for the Springboro, Ohio native.
The senior co-captain batted .643 (9-for-14) with nine runs scored, four RBI, three doubles and a pair of home runs as Ohio State won three games over Eastern Illinois, Bucknell and Army. Hurley ranks among the Big Ten’s top 10 in average (.414), slugging (.743) and on-base percentage (.481).
The Buckeyes continue their Spring Break trip Monday afternoon against Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach. Ohio State will then play Dartmouth, Rollins and Webber International before returning home to Columbus on Friday.
