Humphrey Selected To Attend Young Women’s National Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Rising senior Maddy Humphrey has secured an invitation to the 2017 Young Women’s National Championship (YWNC), USA Field Hockey announced. The Young Women’s National Championship serves as a high-level, international structured competition which is a selection avenue to Junior National Camps and the Development Squad Camp. The event will take place at the Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa. from June 12-16, 2017.

A native of Virginia Beach, Va., Humphrey led the Buckeyes in scoring with 32 points (12 goals, eight assists). She ranked seventh in the league in goals, fifth in assists, sixth in points and eighth in points per game on her way to earning All-Big Ten and All-Region honors.

Humphrey started off the year on a tear, scoring at least one goal in each of the Buckeyes’ first four games. Overall, she tallied a goal in 10 of 17 games and had at least one point in 14 of 17 contests. Ten times, she finished with multiple points.

Humphrey has played in and started all 51 games over her career with 88 points on 34 goals and 20 assists. She ranks No. 16 on the career points list and No. 13 in goals. Two years ago as a freshman, she also led the team in both goals (12) and assists (eight).

Humphrey also has extensive experience with USA Field Hockey, having been invited multiple times to the Young Women’s National Championship, U-21 Selection Camp and Young Women’s High Performance Tournament.
