Nov. 1, 2017

Columbus, Ohio – For the third-straight season, Ohio State field hockey student-athlete Maddy Humphrey has earned second team All-Big Ten honors the conference office announced on Wednesday.

The Virginia Beach, Va., native played in and started 68 games during her four-year career in Columbus amassing 43 career goals and 28 assists for a point total of 114, two of which rank in the top 10 in Ohio State program history.

A perennial goal scorer for all four years, Humphrey led the Buckeyes in goals scored in three of the past four years. Her freshman and junior campaigns were highlighted by scoring 12 goals in each season, and this year she paced the Buckeyes with nine goals. Her 43 goals scored slots her in the No. 8 position in the record book behind Yesenia Luces (44 goals).

Not just focused on scoring goals, Humphrey paced the Scarlet and Gray in assists in 2016 and 2017 with nine and seven dimes respectively. In the points tallied category, Humphrey was the top-point scorer three out of the past four years with 32 points as a freshman, 33 as a junior and 25 as a senior. The 114 in her career are the seventh most to be scored by a Buckeye.

Having a knack for being clutch, 10 of Humphrey’s 43 career goals were game winners, which is tied for seventh most in program history. Humphrey, a dynamic forward, will represent the Scarlet and Gray one last time as she is scheduled to play in the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game on Nov. 17 in Louisville.
