COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference named Ohio State’s Emily Hummer its Co-Women’s Golfer of the Week Thursday after the redshirt freshman from Upper Arlington, Ohio, finished tied for the No. 2 spot individually at the 2022 Lady Buckeye Invitational last weekend in Columbus.
Hummer, playing as an individual in the 10-team event, led the tournament after two rounds with rounds of 72-73 last Friday and then finished with a 76 over the final 18 holes to finish six shots behind medalist Emily Price of Kent State.
Over 54 holes, Hummer led the field of 61 total golfers with 11 birdies on the famed Ohio State Golf Club Scarlet Course and was second in par 5 scoring (-3) and third in par 4 scoring (+6). Overall she scored par or better on 39 holes.
Ohio State won the tournament, the 16th victory in the 40-year history of the event, outpacing KSU by 15 shots.
The Buckeyes begin postseason play Friday at the 2022 Big Ten Women’s Golf Championships in Pittsburgh.
