COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the fourth time this season, Ohio State men’s hockey senior goalie Brady Hjelle has been named the CCHA Warrior Goaltender of the Week. Hjelle allowed just three goals in the Buckeyes’ series sweep of Lake Superior State, making 64 saves.

A native of International Falls, Minn., Hjelle made 64 saves to lead all CCHA goalies over the weekend, while his .955 save percentage was first among the conference goalies who started both games. Friday, Hjelle had 34 saves (including two on breakaways), stopping all 22 shots he faced in the first two periods as Ohio State took a 3-0 lead and then adding 12 stops in the third period. He and the Buckeyes were 4-for-4 on the penalty kill and he was named the game’s second star in the Buckeyes’ 3-2 win.

Saturday, Hjelle had nine saves in the first period and then stopped all 21 shots he faced in the final two periods as Ohio State won 6-1. He and the Buckeyes were 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.

On the year, Hjelle is third in the NCAA with a 1.60 goals-against average and ranks second nationally with a .946 save percentage. He ranks first in the CCHA in both categories.

Hjelle and the Buckeyes (10-11-5, 9-6-3-1 CCHA) host No. 9/11 Notre Dame (16-10-0, 12-6-0-0 CCHA) for two games this weekend. The squads will meet at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Value City Arena.
