COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kailie Vongsaga has been added to the Ohio State women’s golf team’s 2020-21 roster, head coach and director of golf Therese Hession announced Tuesday. Vongsaga, a transfer from the University of Arizona, will have four years of eligibility remaining after competing this past season for the Wildcats.
“We are thrilled to have Kailie join the Buckeyes this fall,” Hession said. “She brings a wealth of tournament experience and will make an immediate impact both as a student as well a player.”
Vongsaga, a native of Diamond Bar, Calif., competed in a pair of tournaments as a freshman for the Wildcats. After making her collegiate debut at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in February, Vongsaga won the Arizona Wildcat Invitational in March, posting scores of 68-68-71 to take the tournament at 9-under-par.
Prior to her time at Arizona, Vongsaga won several junior events, including the ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior and the AJGA Junior at Superstition. Vongsaga, a three-time AJGA Rolex Junior All-American, has competed in the U.S. Women’s Amateur twice, including a 33rd place finish in 2018.
