COLUMBUS, Ohio – Redshirt sophomore Jake Hanes became the 16th different Ohio State men’s volleyball player to earn All-America recognition from the America Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) since 1998. That Buckeye group has totaled 30 All-America awards overall, including Hanes’ Honorable Mention distinction for 2019. Ohio State has been represented on the AVCA list in six straight seasons (2014-19).
Hanes, also selected for the All-MIVA First Team, was one of the nation’s most feared offensive weapons this season. He wrote his name into the Ohio State record books with season averages of 5.01 points per set (tied for third best in school history), .44 aces/set (t-8th) and 4.36 kills/set (t-17th). The 6-foot-10 opposite was also able to post a 1.18 digs/set season clip.
