COLUMBUS, Ohio – Redshirt sophomore Jake Hanes wrapped up the 2019 regular season by earning MIVA Offensive Player of the Week accolades, his second such performance this season. For his latest recognition, Hanes averaged 4.90 kills per while attacking .333 during consecutive five-set victories over No. 13 Purdue Fort Wayne and Ball State to close out St. John Arena.
The Buckeye opposite hitter began his week by recording a career-high 30 kills against the Mastodons. He registered a dozen of those kills during a 32-30 fourth set which kept the Buckeyes alive. Hanes was responsible for the 31st and 32nd points on back-to-back kills. He came back two nights later with 19 kills and a pair of aces versus the Cardinals.
Hanes and the rest of the Buckeyes start postseason play on Saturday (Apr. 13) at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on the road vs. No. 10 Loyola Chicago. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
