DAYTON, Ohio – Ohio State junior Will Grimmer carded rounds of 71-68 on Monday and is tied for the lead at the Dayton Intercollegiate through 36 holes. As a team, the Buckeyes are in second place, just seven shots out of the top spot.

Cool and breezy conditions greeted the teams Monday morning and that, coupled with the small undulating greens at NCR Country Club made scoring difficult early on. Grimmer handled the morning conditions well and played his opening nine in 1-under before coming home in 1-over. He then made four birdies without a bogey through 17 holes and would finish with a 3-under 68. Despite the closing bogey, the Cincinnati, native is tied for the lead with a round to play.

Daniel Wetterich, who has led the team in scoring so far this fall, had a bit of an uncharacteristic opening round 77 but rebounded nicely in the afternoon, matching Grimmer with a 3-under 68. Wetterich and Grimmer’s 68s were two of just seven under-par rounds on the day.

Caden Orewiler opened the day with an even-par round of 71 and finished with a 75 in the afternoon for a 36-hole total of 146. That has him in 12th place through two rounds.

Freshman Kevin Stone, who made his collegiate debut on Monday, had quite the day. He made one birdie and just two bogeys in an opening round 71 and four more birdies in an afternoon 75. He is currently in a tie for 20th at 5-over par.

Jeg Coughlin III rounded-out the Buckeye scoring five with rounds of 76-75. Playing as individuals, Caleb Ramirez (73-75) and Justin Wick (76-73) sit in 26th and 32nd place, respectively. Will Voetsch posted rounds of 73 and 81.

The Buckeyes are 8-over par through the two rounds after rounds of 290 and 286. That trails Miami (Ohio) by just seven shots headed into Tuesday. The final round will start with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. ET.
