COLUMBUS, Ohio—Seniors Will Grimmer and Daniel Wetterich are set to compete in the Jones Cup Invitational on February 1-3 at Ocean Forest Golf Club on Sea Island, Georgia. The Jones Cup Invitational has brought together many of the top amateur players across the country since 2001 to compete in a 54-hole individual stroke-play event. The event has played host to a number of PGA Tour stars, including Luke Donald, Rickie Fowler, Lucas Glover, Dustin Johnson, Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker, Bubba Watson and Gary Woodland among others.

Ocean Forest Golf Club was designed in 1995 on the end of Sea Island where the Hampton River and the Atlantic Ocean meet. The course features oceanside and pine tree lined fairways, greenside bunkers that block short approach shots and small, low-profile greens that slope away from center and make it nearly impossible for a long ball to hold. The club hosted the 2001 Walker Cup, becoming the youngest course to host the tournament, and subsequently began hosting the Jones Cup, then later the Jones Cup Junior and Senior Invitationals.

Grimmer and Wetterich are no strangers to the Jones Cup, competing for the fourth and third time respectively. Grimmer first competed in 2015 as a high school senior, then again in 2016, where he finished tied for fourth, and 2018. Through the fall season with the Scarlet and Gray, he put together a 69.44 adjusted scoring average, claimed the Musketeer Classic crown shooting a career-low 202 (-11) and is ranked 16th in the nation according to Golfstat rankings. Wetterich competed in the Jones Cup in 2017 and 2018, before being invited back again this year. Wetterich sports a 71.44 adjusted scoring average through three fall events with Ohio State and also closed out the fall with a great showing, finishing in second behind Grimmer at the Musketeer Classic.

The field of 78 begins play on Friday morning, playing 18-holes each day for the three day, 54-hole tournament. Grimmer tees off at 9:40 AM and Wetterich tees off at 11 AM, both off of hole-10.
