COLUMBUS, Ohio—Seniors Will Grimmer and Caleb Ramirez earned Co-Big Ten Men’s Golfer of the Week honors after they each finished with five-under 208s to tie for fourth at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate. With this award, the 2018-19 squad has now tallied the most Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors that an Ohio State team has ever had with five, besting the previous mark of three in 2004.
Grimmer has now won the award three times this season and four times for his career, a Buckeye record. The latest, coming after he shot 68-73-67 to finish fourth at Irish Creek. He now has eight rounds in the 60s and has shot 208 or better, six times in his career and three times this season. After finishing fourth at Irish Creek Intercollegiate, Grimmer now has four top-5 and six top-10 finishes on the year, the most of any Big Ten player.
Ramirez picks up his first Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors of the season, and the second of his collegiate career. The senior has found his stroke the last two tournaments, finishing two-under at the Linger Longer Invitational and five-under at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate for which he earned the award. He set a new career low at Irish Creek by carding 14 birdies in three rounds to finish in fourth place with a 208 (70-69-69), besting his previous low by five strokes.
