COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State catcher Greg Solomon has been named Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
The sophomore hit .600 (6-for-10) with two runs scored, two doubles and four RBI. He slugged at an .800 clip and had a .447 on-base pct. All three stats led the team. Defensively, Solomon threw out three of four Wildcat runners attempting to steal and picked a runner off second base as the Buckeyes took two of three from Northwestern.
The award marks the Buckeyes’ third Big Ten award of the season after Josh Dezse was named Freshman of the Week twice.
The Buckeyes (10-11, 2-1 Big Ten) take on the Columbus Clippers in an exhibition at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday at Huntington Park before hosting Miami (OH) at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday at Bill Davis Stadium.
