LINCOLN, Neb. – Behind a hat trick from Lauren Granberg, the Ohio State women’s soccer team blanked Nebraska, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at Nebraska Soccer Field. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 10-4-1, 5-2-1 in the Big Ten while the Huskers fall to 6-9-1, 3-5-0 in conference play.

The three-goal game is Granberg’s first career hat trick and the first for a Buckeye since Paige Maxwell scored three in a 6-0 victory over Youngstown State in 2009.

Granberg gave the Buckeyes the lead just over three minute into the contest when Tiffany Cameron found her with a cross far post for the finish and a 1-0 advantage.

Things stayed quiet the rest of the half as the Buckeyes carried the 1-0 lead into the break, holding a 9-6 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes.

Granberg then scored her second in the 66th minute finishing a rebound of a Cameron shots for the 2-0 lead. Less than three minutes later, Cameron put the Buckeyes up 3-0, scoring from 10 yards out off an assist from freshman Michela Paradiso.

Granberg capped the scoring in the 89th minute, lofting a shot from 20 yards out over the outstretched arms of Nebraska goalkeeper Emma Stevens, for the 4-0 Ohio State victory.

For the game, Ohio State held an 18-14 advantage in shots, including 9-5 on frame.

The hat trick by Granberg marked the 10th in Ohio State women’s soccer history. Cameron led the Buckeyes with five shots while Granberg tallied four. Goalkeeper Rachel Middleman played the first half, recording three saves, while Jillian McVicker made a save over the second 45 minutes.
