COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced its weekly men’s gymnastics awards on Monday. Freshman Kristian Grahovski was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, the first weekly award for any Buckeye this season.
Grahovski put together another stellar meet as the Buckeyes won the Navy Open with a team score of 405.350 amidst a field of six teams. Grahovski won the pommel horse title with a personal-best 14.250, the Buckeyes’ highest individual score of the meet on any event excluding vault. He eclipsed his previous personal-best by 1.250. Grahovski also made his collegiate debut on high bar, earning a 13.100.
Grahovski now ranks 13th nationally on pommel horse and his score of 14.250 is now the fourth highest on the event in the country. Additionally, his score helped the OSU team put together the highest pommel horse team score in the country this far.
The Buckeyes’ first home meet is against Illinois on Feb. 11. Admission and parking are free to all home men’s gymnastics regular season meets. Ohio State is also set to host the 2023 Big Ten Men’s Gymnastics Championships on March 31 and April 1.
