Buckeyes at the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational

  • This will be the fourth year of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational and the Buckeyes have played in the event each of the first three years.
  • OSU’s best finish as a team is 13th in both 2015 and 2016
  • Clark Engle finished tied for fifth in 2015 which was the best finish by a Buckeye
  • Will Grimmer was the top Buckeye last season at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas as he finished tied for 14th
  • Grimmer also played in the event in 2015 when it was played at Pumpkin Ridge

Noting the buckeyes

  • The Buckeyes are coming off a pair of 6th place finishes at the Inverness Intercollegiate and the Bearcat Invitational
  • Daniel Wetterich is playing the best golf of his Buckeye career. He has finished in the top-5 each of the last two events which are the first top-5 finishes of his career. He fired a round of 8-under 63 in the second round at the Bearcat Invitational tied for 3rd in the event at 10-under par – both are career bests.
  • Wetterich was named the Big Ten’s Golfer of the Week on Sept. 27 for his efforts at the Bearcat Inv.
  • Wetterich leads the team through the first three events with a 69.38 scoring average and seven of his eight rounds have been at par or better.
  • Ohio State opened the season for the second-straight year at The Carmel Cup at famed Pebble Beach Golf Links. Juniors Will Grimmer and Caleb Ramirez led the Buckeyes as they tied for 23rd at 3-under par.
  • The under-par finish at the Carmel Cup was the first of Caleb Ramirez’s career and he was subsequently named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week on Sept. 6.
  • Ohio State boasted two of the Big Ten’s four golfers of the week for the month of September.
