Getting to Know: Kelsey Dieters

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After a strong freshman season, sophomore Kelsey Dieters has returned to the court this year, competing on a level that is on pace to improve her record from last season. In the fall, she recorded a career-high win streak after defeating five singles opponents in a row. Her streak began after notable victories over UT’s No. 18-ranked Brynn Boren and NC State’s No. 19-ranked Joelle Kissell at the Lady Vol Classic Oct. 27-28. At the Brown Classic Nov. 2-3, Dieters compiled straight-set wins and a super tiebreaker victory to support the Buckeye’s singles record of 9-3 at the event.

After being ranked 41st in the first Campbell’s/ITA College Tennis Rankings of 2013, the Michigan native became the highest ranked Buckeye since 2008. Dieters has continued to dominate her opponents during the spring season.  In January, she did not lose a match, notching four wins in singles and a four-match win streak with doubles partner Kara Cecil. In thrilling fashion, No. 52-ranked Kelsey Dieters defeated Tennessee’s No. 18-ranked Brynn Boren in a super tiebreaker, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (12-10) to earn the lone point for the Buckeyes on court one. It was her second victory over Boren and third victory over a ranked opponent this season. She is currently ranked No. 46 in the latest poll and holds a 13-7 record in singles matches.
