Get to Know the Freshmen: Sarah Johnson


Follow along and get to know the newest members of the Buckeye women’s lacrosse program.

Today, meet midfielder Sarah Johnson, who hails from Richmond, Va.

Buckeye head coach Amy Bokker on Sarah …

“We are excited to see how Sarah will add to the Buckeye midfield.  She is fast, aggressive and very tenacious on the field. I think Sarah will provide great bursts of energy and be a spark for our team.”

Sarah, on why she chose Ohio State …

“I chose Ohio State because when I first came to campus the love and excitement people shared for OSU athletics was unlike anywhere I had ever been. I wanted to be a part of it.”

Prior to Ohio State

  • Team captain in 2019-20
  • 2019 All-LIS selection
  • Leader in caused turnovers
  • IMPACT Award winner in 2019
  • 2020 Sarah Townsend athletic award honoree
  • Played for Richmond Strikers
  • On the honor roll all four years of high school
  • Played varsity field hockey throughout high school and was captain as a senior
  • Gold Team captain in 2019-20, winning the pep rally and team cup
  • Founded high school’s Spanish Club


  • Daughter of Connor and Elizabeth
  • Brother, Connor, plays golf at Virginia Tech and also has a younger brother, David
  • Plans to major in political science and attend law school
  • Enjoys reading, exercising and hanging out with friends
  • Started playing lacrosse because all of her friends were; overcame showing up to her first practice to find out her mother had accidentally signed her up for an all-boys team
