COLUMBUS, Ohio – Katie Pyle has signed a national letter of intent to further her academic and athletic career as a member of the Ohio State field hockey team, head coach Jarred Martin announced.

Pyle played midfield for five years as a member of the Sutter’s Brigade field hockey club, coached by Bob Derr. Pyle was also a three-year letter winner in both field hockey and lacrosse at Warwick High School. Pyle was an impact player as a Warrior, serving as the team captain and leading scorer. Pyle finished her high school career as a two-time Lancaster Lebanon All-League team and Section 1 First Team All-Star, as well as a 2017 First Team All-State honoree.

Pyle lists her most memorable athletic moment as winning a game that would send their team into district playoffs on Senior Night in double overtime, and later scoring two goals in district playoffs, her final game.

“Katie is coming to us from central Pennsylvania, one of the best areas in the country for hockey,” Martin said. “She played under legendary coach Bob Derr at Warwick High School in the midfield and up front on the attacking line. Katie will bring some dangerous attacking skills and a smooth calm presence to our offensive unit. She has some quick hands and an ability to collapse the defense which I am looking forward to seeing her develop at the next level.  I love that she was a multi-sport athlete and excelled on the lacrosse field as well.  I am excited to welcome Katie and her family to the OSU field hockey family this fall.”
