Freddy Gerard, a forward who wrapped up his Ohio State men’s hockey career in March, has signed a contract with ECHL Idaho, the Steelheads announced Tuesday.
A native of Rocky River, Ohio, Gerard skated in 118 games in the Scarlet and Gray, with 23 goals and 35 assists for 58 points, as 44 of his 58 points came in his final two years. He was a member of the second senior class in program history to make three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a 2018 Frozen Four trip. He was part of the program’s first Big Ten championship team in 2019.
Gerard earned his bachelor’s degree in communication in Spring 2019. He was a four-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete, three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, as well as an AHCA All-American scholar.
