Louisville, Ky.  – Christine Frederick closed out her Ohio State cross country career with a 167th-place finish on Saturday morning at the E.P Tom Sawyer State Park with a 6k time of 21:13.20. Frederick was running in her first-career NCAA Championship meet.

Frederick came out of the gates with a 2k time of 6:43.7 to sit in 137th place. Crossing the 5k mark in 179th place with a time of 17:52.8, the senior closed out the final 1,000 meters of the race in 3:19 improving her positioning 12 spots to register a 167th-place showing in a field of 255 athletes.

Frederick was without a doubt Ohio State’s most counted on runner down the final stretch of the season. She was the Buckeyes’ top finisher at both the Great Lakes Regional and Big Ten Championships. She earned postseason accolades at both of those two meets. Her 11th-place finish at the conference meet put her on the Second Team All-Big Ten team, and she placed 10t at the Great Lakes Regional, which earned her all-region honors.

Frederick was a part of Ohio State’s team score at all five meets she ran at this fall. She helped the Buckeyes capture their only team title of the season at the Commodore Invite in Nashville, Tenn., on Sept. 16 with a 20th-place finish.

Frederick and the distance crew will now turn their efforts towards indoor track and field season, which begins on Jan. 5, 2018, with a home meet at the French Field House.
