Four Buckeyes Compete in World Team Trials

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Four current Buckeyes competed over the weekend in the World Team Trials in Lincoln, Nebraska, with three reaching the finals. Finals winners will represent Team USA in the 2021 World Championships in Oslo, Norway.

Nick Boykin, a redshirt sophomore from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, competed in the 97kg bracket and made the finals before falling to G’Angelo Hancock.

Fritz Schierl, a redshirt senior from Stevens Point, Wisconsin, made the finals in the 77kg bracket before a loss in the finals to Jesse Porter.

Brady Koontz, a redshirt junior from Plover Wisconsin, earned a pair of wins to reach the finals in the 55kg bracket before falling to Max Nowry in the best 2 of 3 finals bout.

Dylan Koontz, a redshirt senior from Plover Wisconsin, advanced to the third-place match before a loss to King Sandoval.
