COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Ohio State men’s basketball standout Chris Jent (1988-91) was selected by the New Mexico Slam with the sixth pick in the first round of the International Basketball League’s inaugural draft July 19-20 in Baltimore, Md.
Jent scored over 1,000 points (1,007) during his Buckeye career and averaged 8.2 points and 3.9 rebounds a game.
The new league is made up of eight teams and will begin play Nov. 26, 1999 in New Mexico, Baltimore (BayRunners), Cincinnati (Stuff), Las Vegas (Silver Bandits), Richmond (Rhythm), San Diego (Stingrays), St. Louis (Swarm) and Trenton (Shooting Stars).
Teams will have rosters of 12-players and will operate under a set of hybrid rules to facilitate a fast-paced game.
