COLUMBUS, Ohio–The Ohio State Buckeyes find themselves rated among the Top 25 teams nationally in nine preseason college football polls despite a 6-6 season in 1999.

The Buckeyes are one of seven Big Ten teams ranked nationally. Ohio State is rated as high as No. 11 (Athlon) and as low as No. 24 (Lindy’s) among nine preseason publications, national media and coaches polls.

The Associated Press rates OSU No. 16 while the coaches have the Buckeyes No. 15 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll.

Among other preseason prognostications Ohio State is No. 15 (Sporting News), No. 17 (Street & Smith’s), No. 18 (CNN/SI), No. 20 (Blue Ribbon) and No. 22 (Sports Illustrated).

The Buckeyes open the season at 12:10 p.m. on ESPN Regional television (WBNS Ch. 10 locally in Columbus) Sept. 2 against Fresno State at Ohio Stadium.
