Ohio State Football Award Winners

Outstanding play against Michigan recognized


COLUMBUS, Ohio The OhioState football coaching staff has selected its weekly award winners for outstanding play in the 14-3 win at Michigan Saturday, clinching the outright Big Ten championship.


Running back Chris “Beanie” Wells was selected as offensive player of the week, and defensive lineman Vernon Gholston earned the Buckeyes’ defensive player of the week award. Trever Robinson was recognized as the special units player of the week by OhioState.


Scout team champions were: Offense:  Dan Herron; Defense: Ryan Lukens; Special Units: Mark Johnson. The “Attack Force” award went to linebacker Marcus Freeman. Kirk Barton won the Jim Parker lineman award. The Jack Tatum Hit of the Week was awarded to Marcus Williams.


No. 5 Ohio State (11-1) awaits its postseason bowl assignment.
