Five Former and Current Buckeyes to Compete at World Rowing Cup II

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Five former and current Buckeyes are competing this weekend at the 2019 World Rowing Cup II in Poznan, Poland.

 


DAY 3 UPDATE

In the A Final of the 8+, Holly Norton and Great Britain raced to a third-place finish to earn bronze and five WorldCup Points for the team.

Ida Kruse and the Germany 4- finished second in the B Final.

Allyson Baker and the USA2 2- boat rowed to a second-place finish in the B Final.

For Italy, Alessandra Montesano and her boat finished sixth in the B Final of the 2x.

 

DAY 2 UPDATE

Holly Norton and Great Britain’s Women’s Eight finished second in Saturday’s repechage to earn a spot in the A Final.

In the Women’s Pair A/B Semifinal, Allyson Baker and her boat raced a time of 7:36.520, narrowly missing the cut for the A Final. She will race in Sunday’s B Final.

Ida Kruse and the Germany Women’s Four finished sixth in the second A/B Semifinal and will race in the B Final.

Elodie Ravera-Scaramozzino raced a time of 7:36.050 to finish third in the C Final in the Women’s Double Sculls. Alessandra Montesano helped her boat to a sixth-place finish in the W2x A/B Semifinals and will race in Sunday’s B Final.

DAY 1 UPDATE

In the Women’s Eight (8+), Holly Norton (’16) and Great Britain finished second in the second heat with a time of 6:16.300. The boat will race in Saturday’s repechage.

Ida Kruse (’19) and Germany’s Women’s Four (4-) boat finished third in its heat with a time of 6:40.370 to advance to Saturday’s second semifinal race.

Alessandra Montesano (’22) and Elodie Ravera Scaramozzino (‘14) are racing in the Women’s Double Sculls (2x) for Italy and France, respectively. In Friday’s heats, Montesano helped her boat to a second-place finish in the first heat and Ravera-Scaramozzino finished fifth in the fourth heat. In the repechages, Montesano finished second in the first race to secure a lane in the semifinals. Ravera-Scaramozzino raced in the second repechage, earning a third-place finish and a spot in the C Final.

Allyson Baker (’16) is racing in the Women’s Pair (2-). In the fourth heat, the boat finished second and then finished first in the fourth race of the repechage. Baker will race Saturday in the first semifinal race.
