COLUMBUS, Ohio – Five members of the Buckeye Basketball Team have been recognized as Academic all-Big Ten honorees. The distinctions mark a single-season record for the program and brings the total number of honors to eight under third-year head coach Beth Burns.
The honorees are junior Courtney Bale (Vista, Calif./Vista H.S.), a communications major, sophomore Laura Ingham (Anchorage, Alaska), a business major, senior Michaela Moua (Vantaa, Finland/Makelanrinne, H.S.), an international studies major, sophomore Lauren Shenk (Minster, Ohio/Minster, H.S.), a molecular genetics major, and junior Mandy Stanhope (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe, Ohio), who is majoring in math and political science.
To be eligible for Academic all-Big Ten laurels, an athlete must be a letterwinner in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a career grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better. The Buckeyes were five of the 354 winter sports student-athletes (30 Buckeyes overall) who were honored by the Big Ten Conference.
