COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State earned titles in several weight classes Sunday at the Storm Open at the Osborne Athletic Center in Painesville, Ohio.
Brady Koontz went 4-0 to win the 125-pound bracket. He defeated Jordan Rodriguez of Lake Erie College by major decision (11-2) to earn the title.
The Buckeyes had four wrestlers in the 133-pound bracket. Will Betancourt was slated to wrestle teammate Chase Liardi in the title bout but Liardi, who was wrestling unattached, forfeited giving Betancourt the championship.
At 157, Jashon Hubbard and Isaac Wilcox (unattached) battled for the championship with Hubbard coming out on top with a win by decision, 4-2.
The Buckeyes also claimed a title at 174 when Fritz Schierl knocked off John Penfold of Lake Erie College by decision, 6-1.
No. 19 Rocky Jordan defeated teammate Gavin Bell (unnatched) in the 184 title match by decision, 6-1.
