PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Five Ohio State wrestlers remain in contention for national titles after Day One of the 2019 NCAA Championships. Micah Jordan (149 lbs), Myles Martin (184), Joey McKenna (141), Kollin Moore (197) and Luke Pletcher (133) each advanced to their weight class quarterfinals. The complete 10-man Buckeye lineup survived Sessions I-II and will continue to compete on Friday.

BRACKETS & TEAM STANDINGS

Sixty percent of Ohio State’s 15 wins were accompanied by bonus points with a team total of six major decisions, two pins and a tech fall. The quarterfinalists were responsible for all the bonus tallies, each garnering the extra points in both victorious bouts with the exception of a 5-3 decision for Pletcher over 2018 All-American Montorie Bridges (Wyoming).

The Buckeyes (25.5) are slotted second in the team standings; 1.5 points ahead of Iowa (24) and seven points back from Penn State (32.5).

BUCKEYE BITS
🌰 Micah Jordan registered the 28th pin of his career to earn a share of 10th place all-time in school history (Kevin Randleman, 1991-93, 28 pins).
🌰 Myles Martin pulled even with Eric Smith (1991-96) at 118 career wins, good for 14th-best in OSU lore.
🌰 Joey McKenna posted the 💯th win of his career and enters Friday at 101-10 overall.
🌰 Pittsburgh native Te’Shan Campbell was one of three No. 21 seeds to pull off a first-round upset of the No. 12 seed.

MICAH ON A MISSION
Since Jan. 11, Micah Jordan has totaled 14 wins and racked up bonus points in 13 of those (5 MD, 3 TF, 5 PIN). For the entire season, Jordan is 27-2 with 21 bonus-point wins (8 MD, 6 TF, 7 PIN).

UNBEATEN RANKS SHRINK TO ELEVEN
With second-seeded Shakur Rasheed (184 lbs) of Penn State losing in Round 2, the number of undefeated wrestlers dropped to eleven. Myles Martin (22-0), also a 184-pounder, is among the group carrying flawless season marks.
