First Half Run Sinks Buckeyes at IU

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Brice Sensabaugh scored 23 points, but a big Indiana run to close the first half was the difference in the game as Ohio State fell 86-70 Saturday night in Bloomington.

The Buckeyes are now 11-10 on the year and 3-7 in Big Ten play.

Sensabaugh was 9-of-17 from the floor and also led the team with six rebounds. This was his eighth 20-point game of the season.

Zed Key finished with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Fellow big man Felix Okpara had a nice game, scoring eight points, with three dunks, and grabbing four rebounds.

Sean McNeil scored nine points and had a couple of three-point plays in the first half to pull the Buckeyes even. Freshman Roddy Gayle Jr. finished with seven points and a season-high five rebounds.

Jalen Hood-Shifino was Indiana’s key in the first half, making 6-of-7 three-point attempts and posting 20 of his game-high 24 points in the first 20 minutes.

Sensabaugh started the game scoring eight quick points and the Buckeyes led early. McNeil then responded to an IU run with back-to-back three-point plays to tie the game at 29-29 with 5:30 left in the half. But Indiana finished the opening half on a 17-1 run to ignite the crowd as the Hoosiers led 46-30 at the break.

The second half was played even as each team scored 40 points. The Buckeyes got as close as 11 and Indiana led by as many as 19. Ohio State shot 53.3 percent in the second half.
