Fencers Earn Academic All-B1G Honors


This spring, 26 members of the Ohio State fencing program have been named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, have been enrolled full time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Senor Aleksandra Kolmykova, a finance major, was recognized by the conference as one of the student-athletes with a 4.0 grade-point average.

Seven Buckeyes earned the honor for the third time:

  • Gabriela Cecchini, Economics/Political Science
  • John Culpepper, Political Science
  • Natalia Falkowski, Finance
  • Domenik Koch, Business Finance
  • Aleksandra Kolmykova, Finance
  • Sarah Merza, Psychology

Seven are now two-time honorees:

  • Matthew Comes, Mechanical Engineering
  • Frank Ditullio, Early Childhood Education
  • Ethan Edwards, Political Science
  • William Gaziano, Finance
  • Matthew Hayes, Psychology
  • Alexa Laskaris, Health Sciences
  • Liam Smith, Industrial Design

Twelve earned a spot on the Academic All-B1G Team for the first time:
