Thursday it was the quarterbacks and tight ends turn to speak with and the Columbus media about spring practice and the upcoming 2009 campaign. The session featured quarterbacks Joe Bauserman and Terrelle Pryor and senior tight end Jake Ballard.

Pryor, a sophomore, enters the season as the leader at quarterback after becoming the first Ohio State freshman to start at QB since Art Schlichter in 1978. Pryor was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year after going 8-1 as a starter, passing for more than 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushing for 631 yards and six scores. He had an efficiency rating of 146.50 which led the Big Ten and caught one pass for a touchdown in the Fiesta Bowl.

Bauserman, also a sophomore, enters 2009 as the backup to Pryor after serving as the No. 3 QB last season. He completed 3 of 6 passes for 22 yards last year.

Ballard is Ohio State’s most experienced tight end entering the spring who will give Pryor a big target at 6-6, 256 pounds. He caught just five passes for 73 yards last season, but had 13 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns in 2007.
