The Buckeyes held their eighth practice of the spring indoors at the Woody Hayes Athletic Facility Tuesday. Afterwards, members of Ohio State’s defensive secondary met with reporters. The candidates included seniors Anderson Russell and Kurt Coleman and junior Chimdi Chekwa. Click the links above to hear what they had to say.
Ohio State returns three of four starters in the secondary and will have to replace All-American and Thorpe Award winner Malcolm Jenkins. Coleman will be in his third year as a starter at safety and is coming off his best year as a Buckeye with four interceptions and 78 tackles in 2008. Russell also will be starting for the third consecutive season at the other safety. He had two picks last season and has 100 tackles over the past two years. Chekwa, who is the returning starter at one corner, is Ohio State’s best one-on-one cover man.
Be sure to check back later today for a player profile on Coleman.
The Buckeyes will be back on the field Thursday with quarterbacks and tight ends sharing their thoughts afterwards.
