COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State field hockey team, under the direction of second-year head coach Jarred Martin, placed 13 players on the ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, the organization announced Thursday. It marks the 13th-consecutive season the Buckeyes have recorded nine or more team members on the national academic list.
In addition, three Buckeyes have been named Scholars of Distinction after earning a cumulative grade-point average through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year, including Maartje Bongers, Kelsey Nolan and Carolina Vergroesen.
The Division I National Academic Squad program recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year.
The 13 Buckeyes named to the National Academic Squad are Bongers, Lauren Carroll, Juliette Duquesne, Natalie Faust, Whitney Harris, Morgan Kile, Nolan, Caroline Rath, Sammy Stone, Julianna Sweeney, Liz Tamburro, Vergroesen and Ellen Westfall. The honor marks the fourth for Faust and Tamburro, third for Vergroesen and second for Bongers, Kile and Rath.
