COLUMBUS, Oh – Senior runner Emily Stoodley and Freshmen runner Mikey Zedan were named Big Ten Sportsmanship Honorees for the 2018 season.
Stoodley finished 25th at Sunday’s Championships where she ended the race with a new career high 6k time of 20:47.1. The senior is also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten recipient and has been a top finisher for the Buckeyes throughout her four season here.
“Emily has shown tremendous leadership this year both on and off the course. She’s gone from being a walk on as a freshmen to one of our most dependable and successful runners.” Said Assistant Coach Sara Vergote. It is no secret that Emily Stoodley looks up to Coach Vergote and has stated that she wouldn’t be where she is at today without the her.
“Mikey has made drastic improvements over just a few short months and is someone we expect to continue to be a big asset to the program. His positivity, coachability and work ethic is exemplary.” Coach Vergote had to say about freshmen Mikey Zedan.
Mikey Zedan is a new face to the program but has been making an impact for the Bucks since the day he has gotten to Columbus. Zedan scored Sunday for the Buckeyes where he placed 81st with a career best 8k time of 25:33.9. It is clear that the young runner can only go up from here.
