COLUMBUS, Ohio — E.J. Liddell, sophomore forward for the Ohio State men’s basketball team, experienced social media harassment following the Buckeyes’ season-ending loss in the NCAA Tournament last week.

Since then, Liddell has received overwhelming support from other student-athletes in various sports from across the country. Many others, including professional athletes, media commentators and Ohio State fans have offered support.

The Ohio State Athletics Department is exploring all options to ensure Liddell’s safety, including the reporting of the incident to campus police.

As a result of Liddell’s transparency and openness with his social media accounts, several national media outlets have shared his story.

Ohio State Sports and Society Director Nicole Kraft sat down with Liddell, coach Chris Holtmann, basketball sports information director Dan Wallenberg and media ethicist Katy Culver of the University of Wisconsin to discuss the challenges athletes can face around social media.
