COLUMBUS, Ohio – Greg Dutton, a freshman goalie on the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team, has been named the ECAC Lacrosse League Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday. It is the second weekly league honor for Dutton this season.
Dutton, a native of Timonium, Md., and a Calvert Hall product, tied his career high with 12 saves at No. 3-ranked Notre Dame last Wednesday. He and the Buckeyes held the Irish to eight goals, allowing just three in the second half as Ohio State’s comeback bid fell short in an 8-7 loss.
Dutton has started eight games for Ohio State this season and is second in the ECAC with an 8.27 goals-against average. He was first named the league’s rookie of the week Feb. 21 after making eight saves in the Buckeyes’ upset of North Carolina Feb. 19.
The No. 17/19 Buckeyes (5-4) return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when they open ECAC play against Loyola (4-3) in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
