COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nick Feldman (125kg) and Nic Bouzakis (61kg) learned their opening draws at the 2022 U20 Junior World Championships Sunday in Sofia, Bulgaria. Competition is set to begin at 4 a.m. ET Monday.

Bouzakis and Nick Feldman along with Ohio State wrestling assistant coaches J Jaggers and Logan Stieber traveled last Thursday to Sofia after spending the last six weeks in Columbus preparing for the event (Aug. 15-21).

Bouzakis and Feldman are representing the United States in the freestyle competition after earning spots at the World Team Trials in early June.

Both Buckeyes begin their quest for a title Tuesday.

Feldman opens with either Georgi Ivanov of Bulgaria, who earned bronze at the 2022 U20 European Championships, or Ryusei Fujita of Japan. Bouzakis takes on Arsian Rakhimov of Uzbekistan, the bronze medalist at the 2022 U20 Asian Championships and gold medal winner at the 2018 U17 Asian Championships.

Since making the U.S. World U20 Junior World Championships team, both Bouzakis and Feldman won gold at the U20 Pan American Championships July 10 in Oaxtepec, Mexico. Redshirt freshman Andre Gonzalez (57kg) also won gold at the U20 Pan American Championships in the freestyle event.
