Collegiate Entries

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s track and field team will travel to Des Moines, Iowa for the 105th edition of the Drake Relays April 24-26.

The annual meet is hosted by Drake University on the famous “Blue Oval” inside Drake Stadium. The venue has hosted several premiere track and field events including the 2010 and 2013 USA Track and Field Championships and multiple NCAA Regional Championships and NCAA Outdoor Championships.

BTN to Air Coverage of JO Classic

The Big Ten Network will provide coverage of the 2014 Jesse Owens Track Classic. It is scheduled to air on BTN April 27 at 3 p.m. ET, April 28 at 2 p.m., April 30 at 2 a.m. and May 1 at noon.

36 Women’s XC/TF Student-Athletes, Mallory Kreider and Cross Country Team Honored Monday

The Ohio State women’s cross country and track and field programs had 36 student-athletes honored as Ohio State Scholar-Athletes Monday night at the annual Scholar-Athlete Dinner held in the Archie M. Griffin Ballroom at the Ohio Union.

Senior distance runner Mallory Kreider received the Corwin A. Fergus Memorial Award, which is given to student-athletes who have excelled in athletics, achieved academically, demonstrated positive qualities of character and citizenship and shown potential for success in a graduate or professional program. 

The women’s cross country also squad received special recognition as having the top team GPA among all Ohio State women’s athletics programs.

Last Time Out

The Ohio State women’s track and field team performed well at the 29th Jesse Owens Track Classic at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium April 18-19.

A win in the 3000-meter steeplechase by junior Nicole Hilton highlighted day one for the Ohio State at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The McDonald, Pa., native cruised to a winning time of 10:37.78.

Running in 60-degree temperatures under clear skies, the Ohio State 4×100-meter relay team – sophomore Aliyah Everson, senior Chesna Sykes, senior Alycia Prior and senior Ashlee Abraham – raced to a season-best time of 44.56 seconds, a Top-25 Division I performance and the fastest time in the Big Ten this season.

A personal-best jump of 6.13 meters (20-1.50) helped senior Adenike Pedro to the long jump title. The mark ranks Pedro fifth all-time in school outdoor history.In the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Alexis Franklin cruised to a first-place time of 59.16 seconds.

The Buckeyes will travel to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Purdue Dave Rankin Invite May 2-3. They will be able to preview the surface that they will be competing on for the 2014 Big Ten Outdoor Championships which are being hosted by Purdue May 16-18.
