COLUMBUS, Ohio – Luna Dormet, a junior on the Ohio State women’s tennis team from Tours, France, represented her home country in the Master’U BNP Paribas in Grenoble, France, last week.
In the tournament, Dormet won both of her singles matches. Her first victory was against Chen Aiqi of China, 6-4, 6-4. She then defeated Germany’s Sophia Intert, 6-1, 7-5.
Dormet went 2-1 in women’s doubles matches with her partner Emmanuelle Salas from Florida State. The duo fell to the USA pair of Jada Hart and Alexa Graham, 6-1, 6-0. The two bounced back and defeated China’s Guo Hanyu and Aiqi, 6-3, 6-4. The tandem then took down the Germany team of Intert and Lena Ruppert, 6-3, 6-2.
France finished in fifth place, with Team USA taking first.
Each year (starting in 2006) the French University Sports Federation invites 20 university national teams to participate in Master’U BNP Paribas. The countries in this year’s tournament included France, Germany, Belgium, United States, China, Great Britain, Ireland and Italy.
Each team was comprised of three men and three women currently enrolled in a university. Each match included two women’s and two men’s singles matches, a men’s and women’s doubles match and a mixed doubles match (if necessary to break a tie).
