Columbus, Ohio – Nick Demaline launched a personal-best heave of 19.88m (65-2.75) at the Buckeye Tune Up Friday night, and for those efforts, he has been named the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week.
Clearing the 19-meter mark in two of his first five attempts, the senior stepped back into the shot put circle with a big number on his mind. His sixth and final throw went 19.66m (65-2.75) to claim the sixth-best mark in all of the NCAA. The throw was an indoor personal best and moved him into the No. 4 spot in program history surpassing Matt DeChant.
Demaline and the Buckeyes will head to Geneva, Ohio, for the Big Ten Championships this Friday and Saturday at the Spire Institute.
